PICKLED GREEN CLOTHING

At Pickled Green Clothing we offer stylish, affordable and ethical clothing, jewellery and accessories for men and women. All our products are made from certified organic cotton, sustainable fabrics such as hemp and bamboo and recycled or natural materials such as coconut. All are produced under Fairtrade principles and alongside some of our established brands, we also support small, local producers and promote their products online and at various markets, festivals and fairs around the UK.

Pickled Green Clothing was set up with the aim to make affordable ethical and sustainable fashion a more accessible option. Hopefully, then benefiting some of the huge number of people involved in the growing and manufacturing of clothes and accessories worldwide, an estimated 100 million households. Through working to increase the demand for ethical clothing and accessories; the better the opportunities for growers and producers in developing countries become, the more sustainable our fashion consumption is and there is then less impact on the environment both in the producer countries and within the UK. Also, by buying consciously and ethically not only do you get a great, unique product, but you learn more about how and by who it was made and are safe in the knowledge that those involved in its creation or the environment have not suffered in anyway.

As a business we have adopted the following ethical policy;

Environment – to continue to reduce the environmental impact of Pickled Green Clothing’s trading operations and to strive for a carbon neutral status in all activities

Ethics – to ensure that the highest ethical standards are maintained and employed throughout all the activities of Pickled Green Clothing and its suppliers

Certification – to make sure that all items sold are certified by reputable and recognized independent organizations as applicable or to ensure that all materials origins are known and verified through our own audit trail

Organic – all cotton items are organic, grown without any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, are GM free and processed into clothes without the use of chemicals

Fairtrade – supporting the fairtrade movement and ensuring that throughout production the products sold by Pickled Green Clothing adhere to the principles of fairtrade. Thereby, ensuring that those involved in producing the clothes have received a fair wage, work in satisfactory conditions and that no child labour is used

Handmade – to support traditional and small scale production of handmade products both overseas and locally. Shipping – where possible items to be shipped from suppliers using slow ferries to reduce carbon emissions

Packaging - to reuse where possible packaging and to use recyclable materials for all packaging

Suppliers - to source and use only suppliers who practice environmentally friendly methods where available in logistics, printing, marketing and other business practices. Where there is no available supplier of certain items to encourage existing suppliers to change and set-up their own environmental policy

Printing – to reduce paper consumption all marketing materials will be sent electronically unless specifically requested. Any printed materials to be on recycled paper or card and to use low impact dyes

Recycling – to promote and encourage supply of recycled products for sale, such as jewellery and up-cycled clothes. To ensure the maximum amount of waste is recycled and/or office products purchased are of a recyclable material such as paper, printer cartridges and folders

Energy efficiency – to be supplied by Ecotricity or a similar green energy provider. Incorporate energy audits into the running of the business and work to reduce energy consumption continually. Lighting the market stall using energy efficient and/or solar lights and powering through rechargeable batteries when possible. Web hosted by Hostpapa who are powered by solar power
