Green Centre Product details

Green Centre Product by:
The Environment Centre

Green Centre was established by the Swansea Environmental Forum as an Association of statutory and voluntary organisations active in environmental work in South West Wales.

Through the institute of a green centre, they wanted to establish a base and focus for environmental information, education and activity in the area.

The Swansea City Council offered the Old Telephone Exchange in Pier Street for conversion into a green centre, if the Forum was capable to attract the necessary support and funding. The Support was offered by dozens of people from the statutory, voluntary and Business segments.

Green Centre was officially opened in April 1995 by the Prince of Wales on a return visit to the project. An Eco-Annexed was built to house the visitor centre. .

Recently the Green Centre has grown and evolved to become a focus for education and activity in South West Wales.

They work with a wide range of groups, organisations, public bodies, schools and the general public to help them put environmental sustainability first in their area.

They are here to help the environmental groups in the S. Wales area and to deliver information regarding sustainability issues. They have a small green shop, fair trade Coffee bar, exhibition spaces and meeting, information, office facilities, photocopying and laminating, internet access and demonstrations of renewable technologies.
